These are the different sheets in my Excel Trade Book. I keep track of:
- All Trades
- These are all my trades, I treat each addon as an individual trade, so there is not cost basis for each like ticker
- Open Trades
- Here is where you will find the cost basis of all open positions
- Closed Trades
- The cost basis of all closed trades with total P/L and R values for the total position. The follow-up matrix is also here. 30-days after a position is closed, I get a notification to do a follow-up where I fill out the matrix based on how it performed since I closed it.
- Follow-Ups
- These are the bar charts that correspond to the follow-up matrix. These charts give me a visual of where I need to make changes to improve.
- Strategies
- These are different statistics based on the individual strategies I’m using. The ultimate goal, once I have enough data points, is to see which strategy is giving me the best R value. Once I know that, I can focus more on that strategy which should give me a better statistical edge.
- Account
- These are P/L statistics for my account. The chart tracks unrealized and realized gains.
- R Trend
- My goal is to be a 3R trader, This tracks the overall R trend of my account. It is the average of all R values of all trades.
- The Curve
- I got this from the Mark Minervini books. It shows realized gain percentages of each trade. The chart starts with negative gains to positive gains in 2% increments. The ides is to get the curve to skew to the right. That means you are consistently getting larger gains and cutting your losses short.
